We run a range of different courses here at the Side Oven and all our courses are designed to suit everyone from complete beginner to those with a little more experience.
The main ingredient (our wheat) is grown a short walk from the bakery and all our courses include a tour of the millhouse and our stoneground mill.
Stollen & Breads for Christmas
Come and enjoy a day’s baking at the Side Oven making a wide range of breads, enriched doughs for sweet breads, Stollen and croissant. Our ‘Stollen & Breads for Christmas’ day will cover a variety of different doughs and methods all with a focus on breads that can be enjoyed over Christmas. The day includes making traditional Stollen and also making croissants from scratch.

Breadmaking for All
Our ‘Breadmaking for All’ course is a fantastic introduction to breadmaking. We tend to dip into lots of different methods and doughs to give you a good feel for a variety of breads as well as covering fruit buns and croissants. You will go home from this course with lots of helpful hints and tips to give you the confidence to continue your breadmaking journey.

Breads for All Occasions
Our ‘Breads for All Occasions’ course again includes a wide range of doughs and everyday breads but with a focus on seasonal breads to share with others. Whether its a meal with family or friends, breads like our tear and share Mediterranean bread are a winner you will want to bake again and again! The course will also include sweet fruit buns and croissants.

Comfort Breads: Winter Warmers
When the nights are drawing in and the Winter jackets are dug out there is nothing we all want more than to be comforted by delicious foods and fabulous flavours. On our ‘Comfort Breads: Winter Warmers’ course we will be exploring some different flavours and different types of breads – designed to be perfect with a bowl of soup or a hearty casserole. We will spend the afternoon baking some deliciously sticky sweetbread treats.
